Escaping2Earth is our small place on the internet where we – Marlene & Tom – share the places that make us curious, happy or simply amazed. We're not travel pros, not extreme adventurers and not people who have perfected "traveling". We're just two people who love being on the road and want to capture the special moments.

The Adventurer with a Great Sense of Direction

Tom is usually in charge of navigation and stays calm even when the plan changes on the fly. He’s a true adventurer who loves trying new places just because they’re there, and his enthusiasm for travel is incredibly contagious. He’s also the gear guy: Tom genuinely enjoys picking out and testing new filming equipment, and he’s always refining the setup on the road so the moments they capture feel just as vivid later as they did in real life.

The Organization Enthusiast

Marlene genuinely enjoys packing. If it were up to her, she’d have the bags ready months before the next adventure simply because she loves planning and getting everything set. Most of the time, she doesn’t just pack her own suitcase, she ends up packing Tom’s too, since she actually enjoys it far more than he does. Once they’re on the road, though, she’s surprisingly spontaneous: together with Tom, she’ll happily ditch a carefully planned itinerary the moment something better comes up or they stumble upon a place they hadn’t even had on their radar.

What are you doing when you are not traveling?

When we are not traveling, we are almost certainly thinking about traveling, researching new places, or booking our next flight. And if we are not doing any of that, then we are both studying. Marlene is studying to become a high school teacher in German, English, and politics, and Tom is pursuing a PhD in economics.
