Almost stranded in
Saudi Arabia
In August 2022 we set off from Riyadh to the Edge of the World. On the map it looked like an easy half-day trip, but with 52 degrees (126°F) on the thermometer our car got stuck on a pile of rocks and for a moment we thought we would not get it out again. The last two kilometres we had to walk in the midday heat, with no shade and no other people anywhere around us. The view from the cliff was incredible, but on the way back we felt so sick from the heat that all we could think about was reaching the car and a bottle of water. It became one of the most extreme travel experiences we have ever had.
